Over-the-counter Treatment Options
- Use an antibiotic ointment containing bacitracin because it treats common skin pathogens such as staph, strep, and MRSA and does not include ingredients that can irritate the skin. Therefore I highly recommend this ointment to my patients.
- Do not use a triple antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin ointment which contains Neomycin because approximately 1 in 10% people react with a rash.
- Avoid covering up the brows after the microblading with creams, gels, vaseline, or emollients because these can trap in the heat and can create an infection. Remember that bacteria die in the presence of oxygen.
- Use a cold pack on your eyebrows to decrease swelling, heat, and pain.
- Keep the area clean and avoid using cosmetics such as makeup or any other topical agents besides antibiotics on your skin.
