Sometimes the heat can cause irritation and burning sensation in the eyes. It happens when the tear film of the eye evaporates due to the high temperature of heat. It creates pain, swelling, and redness on your eyelids.


We use heat often to treat a stye. Usually, a warm compress is recommended to reduce the swelling, pain, and inflammation of the eyelids. But this warm compress sometimes may cause more little swelling, burning, and inflammation on eyelids. There is a question that arises in our minds.

  • Don't take hot water or heat a wet cloth in a microwave oven.
  • Don't use a too hot a compress.
  • Use only for the recommended time. The excessive use of heat can harm your eyelids.
  • Use a clean cloth before taking a warm compress.
